The final leg is tough going

Yet Another message from Russ 26 July 09
All across the Simpson I was too tired to appreciated the starry night skies, sleep came easy. Tonight I look at the stars and wonder whether this will be the last bush camp fire for this expedition. This has been a rewarding adventure but I now look forward to arriving in Alice Springs and home. Getting to sit in a seat I don't have to pedal and catching up on all I've missed.

I can't wait to finish at Alice Springs now to get out of this weather. It's relentless but for once I have some tail winds.

Yesterday I had to make the call to accept a lift from my backup team to get through bull dust country between Mt Dare ( http://www.mtdare.com.au/ ) and Old Andado before the rain set in. We got through just in the nick of time but regular drops on the windscreen left us anxious. Beautiful rainbows welcomed us to Old Andado homestead ( http://www.oldandado.com/ ). Early start for me again in horrendous wind this morning.

What an amazing adventure this has been ... and we have only been watching from the sidelines. I wonder if after a week in Brisvegas you'll be longing for the deserts again?

Thanks for letting us watch your progress over the past weeks .... but what's next in the way of adventures for you???

Hey Russ Megan and I think you are amazing. 10,000km was it and all tough. I bet the night skys were the best to witness. Keep it up mate, I will be back in OZ at Christmas.

Fantastic effort, some of these places were hard enough in a 4 wheel drive! Looking forward to catching up when you get back...
