Doctors Orders: Straight to the Pub

OK, I may have slightly constrewed this instruction, but I reckon for the better:)

This morning when I arrived in Birdsville (yes, jeez it's good to be back on home soil), I went to the doctor.

The cold I picked up in Innamincka was getting better, UNTIL ... I plowed on through some horrendous winds between Innamincka and Walkers crossing. I saw a few game drivers out there in the sand-blasting conditions, very suprised to see a "mad biker" in these whirl of sand.

Well, the cold winds have continued. From early this morning, I had a race on my hands to beat a weather front to Birdsville. I made it, but the doc says I now have a chest infection. He's prescribed anti-biotics, but said I should first get that Birdsville beer and steak under my belt since no more beer with the anti-biotics.

Needless to say I have already complied with doctors orders. I had to restrain myself at one though. ... and no more whilst I continue with medication.

It may be 2 or 3 days before I'm able to continue on. The Simpson will demand 100% physical condition. Progress update to follow before I depart.

Thanks for all the donations received to date. Hopefully I can soon get an update on the amount raised so far.

Fantastic effort Russ !! Hope your health improves as you take a short rest before the big one. All the best as you tackle the Simpson. I reckon that SBS could break to your SPOT position during Le Tour coverage.

Perhaps they could even do a TV series on you called "The Dry Way Round" ;-)

Was that a Dr or the Frontier Health Service. Either way what great orders. Carb Load RUSS and then plough through those dunes one at a time. All the best for the big one. I am sure you will beat the hills mentally and physically. :)
